T A T T O O S
Canvas | Tattoo Inquiry
This blog started as a child themed website, but I felt it wasn’t functional and stylish enough, so I condensed it into this blog post. I also did not want to put my friends descriptive answers to waste as they sent me a lot more responses than are seen below. This “site” functions as a place where people can see other peoples opinions to questions they may have when getting their first tattoo, or if they feel strange that they find tattoos therapeutic. My first experience with tattoos was very stressful, but about an hour or so into it it turned into a therapeutic experience. The sound of the tattoo gun became rhythmic rather than menacing. I hope you enjoy reading through this! Let me know what you think.

This blog is a pulled apart version of a child themed website I created, that is why formatting may be off and it is down to the basics.

How many tattoos do you have OR What do you want your first tattoo to be?
I have seven, my first one was my Totoro on my right forearm
Do you believe tattoos need to have meaning? If so what kind of meaning do yours have? If not then what inspires you to get them?
I don’t think all tattoos need meaning, I certainly have several that don’t have any meaning at all. The ones that do have meanings are my Bowie, my hummingbird, and the script on my left wrist.
Do you have one specific artist that you like to go to? If so, who are they, where are they, and link their social media please.
I have two artists I like to go to, the one who has done most of my tattoos is @AshleyEvansTattoo on instagram. She owns the shop my friend who did my two other tattoos her instagram is @ShanaScavelliTattoos, she’s an apprentice at said shop.

Do you find it therapeutic at all? What is the best part of getting tattooed?
Depends. My smaller tattoos were therapeutic. It’s weird, the pain doesn’t bother me, it feels quite nice. The best part about getting a tattoo is the beginning when the artist shows you the tattoo and right when the artist finishes the tattoo and you get to see the finished product.
Do you think tattoos could prevent you from future jobs and careers? If you do, how and in what field? What fields do you think this would affect negatively?
I don’t think it will. I’m going in a very artistic field so i hope they will be accepting of the tattoos i have and might get.
Why do you get tattoos?
I always thought they were amazing works of art that you get to have on your body.

Do you have a specific style that you like? Or do you go along with the artist’s vision and style?
I like anime style tattoos, I probably would not be interested in getting any other style of tattoo.
Do you believe tattoos need to have meaning? If so what kind of meaning do yours have? If not then what inspires you to get them?
No, I think all that matters is that they look pretty to the person who has them. Its cool if they also have meaning but to me it is more about appearance.
Do you have one specific artist that you like to go to? If so, who are they, where are they, and link their social media please.
@micromachinedee is the artist I plan to go to. She uses bright colors and has a cute style and it is important to me that I am tattooed by someone who specializes in that style.

Do you prefer color or black and white and why?
I prefer color, while I enjoy black and white, I think color just brings life to the tattoo.
What place hurt the most to get tattooed?
People said getting my collarbone tattooed would hurt a lot, but it was actually my back that hurt more, as I have less fat/muscle there and could feel the vibrations from the tattoo gun vibrating my spine.
Do you have a specific style that you like? Or do you go along with the artist’s vision and style?
I enjoy realistic styles for things, but unless I have a particular thing in mind, I describe what I want to the artist and let them design it how it would best look.

Why do you get tattoos?
I get tattoos to express creativity and to show my uniqueness.
Do you believe tattoos need to have meaning? If so what kind of meaning do yours have? If not then what inspires you to get them?
Not all tattoos need to have meaning. I got mine the day of without planning them prior besides my flower/ butterfly one; that one is for my friend who passed away. Her name is Lily, so I got half lillies half a butterfly.
Do you find it therapeutic at all? What is the best part of getting tattooed?
I don’t find it therapeutic, but I like how it helps add some character to people’s appearance.
